INTRODUCTION
For some artists, drawings are the first step in a process. For others, they are themselves the culmination of an artistic project.
Drawings have always fascinated me. I was thrilled when I discovered the China's studio talent. I have worked to build the trust of artists, and bring to buyers the very drawings that have enthralled me for so long.
The power that emanates from great drawing can be distilled into the medium's three most basic qualities: its purity, accessibility, and passion.
Purity: Michelangelo called drawing the basis of all knowledge – an expression with the ability to make all things clear. As a first draft, drawing is the most direct of any artistic medium. It does not allow for lies or dishonesty. What diaries are to autobiographies so too are drawings to paintings.
Accessibility: Though we may not all be great talents, every one of us has drawn a picture. There is no more basic an artistic experience for masters and amateurs alike, making it easy to have an opinion.
Passion: There can be no filters. Drawings move directly from the head on to the paper, taking visual form in the same moment that thinking begins. As immediate an artistic form as dance, drawing allows no hidden passion or emotion.
Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867)
"Drawing is Art's passion"
老子(571~471 BC)
"大音希声,大象无形。"
Edgard Degas (1834-1917):
"Drawing is not the form, it is the way to see the form"
杜甫(712-770)
"丹青不知老将至,富贵于我如浮云。"
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973):
"In drawing, nothing is better than the first attempt."
康熙(1654-1722)
"艺海无涯, 虚怀若谷。"
Salvator Dali (1904-1989):
"Drawing is the honesty of art"
